So, I’ve finally got the site live. If you’ve spent any time looking at the Canadian transition system, you already know it’s a total mess of paperwork and endless waitlists. I’m tired of seeing people have to navigate this “thick Wyrdness” in the dark—it’s like playing a survival game where the map is missing and the shadows are closing in.
I spent way too long in doubt, but I’ve just hit my 4-month HRT mark. The “holy shit, this is real” anxiety is definitely there, but for the first time, I feel like I’m becoming the real me.
This isn’t just a resource hub—it’s my journal
When I first started transfem.ca, I had this “slow-living” idea for it. I still love that vibe, but the mission has shifted. I want this to be a place where we bridge the gap between those dry, official government sites and the actual human experience.
I’ll be sharing my own milestones—the highs, the lows, and the weird technical stuff like navigating estrogen injections in Canada (seriously, why is it all compounding pharmacies?). But I’m also building out provincial guides so you can find a clear path through the bureaucracy, whether you need a name-change checklist or surgery info.
Why we need each other
After 20+ years of marriage to Felicity, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that you can’t do this alone. Community is everything. Whether we’re geeking out over #NailInspo, venting about the state of #TransRights, or just sharing a coffee and a toke, we’re stronger when we’re connected.
To anyone just starting or even just thinking about it: you aren’t alone in this. Canada looks tolerant on paper, but we know the reality is different. We deserve better than isolated clinics and “second-class” treatment.
What’s next?
I’m working on some data sets to answer the questions that usually get ignored. We’re going to dive into the real talk about HRT and provincial roadmaps very soon.
Until then, take a breath. You only live once—be the real you.

I’ll read when I get a minute 😉
Got time to read. Nice initiative. Hopefully you get through building the rest of the site.
Thanks this post was really a dev test I linked the atproto to each post id and have a steady link to bsky, node and PHP to use it as a comment system i was delighted when you replied it allowed me to debug and fine tune the system!
So thanks 🙏
